On Halloween I decided to dress up as a mouse. So I drew whiskers and a mouse nose on my face with grey eye-liner, made two buns on my head and made made a cheese manicure.

This time I created a vibrant blue, green and lime Ruffian manicure (also known as reverse half-moon or reverse French). As a base for my nail design, I used metallic grey nail polish by W7. Although it may not be clearly seen in the pictures, the ‘smile’ at the beginning of each nail was made with the magnetic nail polish and a special magnet.

The whole point of this manicure is careful selection of different shades of nail polishes. Choose the pastel shade as a base, and then apply dots with the dotting tool on the top with more saturated shade of the same colour.

For this extremely unusual version of the half-moon manicure (also known as ‘reversed french mani’) I applied two coats of lime nail polish Barbara Daly — Zest. Then I carefully painted two coats of pastel brown lacquer by OPI — NL S46 Java Mauve-A, leaving the half-moons unpainted. It’s absolutely up to you which method do you prefer to achieve this effect. Since I find stickers kind of unreliable, I used a thin nail art brush to outline my half-moon curves, and then with an ordinary nail polish brush I painted my nails upwards from the outlines. Happy birthday to me, I just turned 21! Thus I had a very pretty black and gold dress for my birthday party. Of course, I couldn’t leave my nails without the suitable manicure. That’s why I came up with the reverse half-moon, also known as the Ruffian manicure. (more…)
The primordial idea of this design was to create something similar to cake topping. However, because of the shade of yellow polish, the result reminds me more of an old banana. Some people say that this looks creepy or scary, but I regard it as a compliment. (more…)
